Wildlife Materials Inc.
For over 50 years Wildlife Materials Inc. (WMI) has taken great pride in providing quality VHF transmitters and receivers for wildlife research and management projects. Founded in 1970 by Robert Hawkins, a wildlife biologist with Southern Illinois University Cooperative Wildlife Research Labs, and his wife Linda, WMI has provided equipment for projects around the world.
Just as many of our products have changed over the years, so have the field conditions under which they are used. The assault on the land and habitats that wildlife depends on continues to increase. If we are to help them survive, it is vitally important that we learn as much as we can about what they need to survive and how they use the land. The people at WMI stand with you in your efforts to discover these needs. Call us with your questions.

Choose The Right Telemetry Equipment
There are many factors to consider in choosing the proper telemetry equipment. If wildlife researchers have not used a certain radio-transmitter package before, they usually call or write us for a recommendation. At this time, we determine the species, its weight, shape, and habitat as well as the length of study and the species’ physiological changes during the study, all of which will influence transmitter choices.
Ongoing communication between project leaders and Wildlife Materials consultants will help assure successful study results.
